ABOS was established over a decade ago, when Colleen was hired by Yale New Haven Health Systems to work with oncology patients from diagnosis through treatment and for years after recovery. What started as 1 class with 2 patients grew to 5 unique classes a week and programs to support patients during various forms of treatment.

Subsequently, the provider care models were developed at the request of the nursing staff at Yale New Haven Health who, seeing the positive impact on their patients, wanted a program of their own. The Adaptive Awareness Series was created in collaboration with patients and providers at Yale New Haven Health and some of New England’s most esteemed medical facilities.

ABOS works closely with each organization, team and individual to design programs that empower providers and patients with techniques and skills that catalyze change and transformation on a personal level.

Our customized systems meet the specific needs of various hard-working professionals – their time constraints, unique stressors, and demanding work environment.

Utilizing a range of disciplines including emotional awareness, mindful micro-techniques, and relational intelligence, the ABOS systems empower participants to harness the calm internal strength and dynamism needed to maximize life’s journey.

Adaptive Awareness Nursing Wellbeing Program was presented at the National Oncology Nursing Society Congress in April 2022 and 2025.

The ABOS system supports patients and providers at various medical systems in New England. Hospital chaplains have also been trained in these techniques to provide comfort during bedside patient care.
